The plot for this proposed dwellinghouse sits within the Skelmorlie Conservation Area and whilst the site already had Planning Permission, the client wanted to develop an alternative design which reflected their lifestyle and needs. The revised proposals exploit the steeply sloping site by inserting an additional level of accommodation at street level. The main living spaces occupy the top floor, affording them spectacular views out over the Clyde Estuary. The building style reflects the materials and proportions of the traditional large villas in the Conservation Area, but expresses them in a more contemporary fashion.
